Are You Kidding Me?

Today was a gorgeous day! It started off overcast which is sorta the norm these days. But this afternoon, I was blinded by this bright light outside my window and I didn't know what it was! Turns out, it was something called the sun. Who knew???

So, of course I took this great weather opportunity to go for a run after work. Here's something I miss about running in not 20 degree weather with snow on the roads...only taking 10 minutes rather than 30 minutes to get ready to run. Seriously. Between the two pair of socks, three layers on my legs (4 if you include my Lululemon Hot Cheeks), 3 layers on top, hat, headband and gloves and the extra stretching to make sure I stay loose and the Yak Tracks for my shoes...OY! It's exhausting just typing it all! I miss the days of throwing on shorts, tank, sunglasses and shoes and that's it. BUT, I shan't complain too much because it felt amazing to run outside. And I rocked my first 1.15 miles at a 10:14 pace Even with two pretty big hills!! I did have to stop and walk a bit after that but generally ran most of it. Until about 2.25 miles. That's when my left hip started to hurt. That's my "good" hip. This is not the first time recently this has happened. The same thing happened during a 5K a few weeks ago. It was bad tonight. I tried to stretch it out and run at a slower pace but that didn't help. It had to walk most of the last .75 miles and even that was painful. Yep. Not happy. It's the same kind of pain as my right was twosome degree. It hasn't started "catching" or anything but the pain was pretty severe. I am really hoping it's the cold weather and nothing more. My resident nurse/running buddy suggested a joint supplement which I am going to get tomorrow. I'm not messing with this crap again. Of course, it will be a year Friday since my surgery so why wouldn't my other hip start to hurt now?? And with another half coming up too. UGH!!! So we shall see how it goes in FL.

Two Weeks!!!!!

It's almost here! It's almost here!! A very important date!! Two weeks and I will be crowned a Disney Princess! And my costume looks fab! And my dear friend Tania and her photog hubby took some pics and tweaked them. So fun! This really is going to be one of the best Girls' Weekend ever! And my friend Leah, who is also a Buff, will be there to so I am hoping we can connect.

Unfortunately, my training has derailed a bit. I would like to blame it on the weather or the weather or the weather. But really...it's my own laziness. Plus I loathe running on the treadmill. But really, it's my own laziness. So I am back on track. I hope. Had stomach issues for a few days this week so haven't done too much but I am going running today. I have my Yak Trax (for running in snow) and plenty of layers so its gonna happen!!

This weekend was Ski Jumps here. My first time and boy was it entertaining. For those of you in Memphis, it's like BBQ fest in the snow. People set up tents and make shift buildings and such and "watch" the jumpers. Yes there is an actual ski jump competition going on. And it's even international!! Go figure! So my friend (who shall remain nameless to protect her identity) and I got up there about 3:30 yesterday and we were the ONLY sober people besides the kids. Just like BBQ fest, folks started drinking early. So, of course, we were obligated to join in. So we were walking around checking it out and after about 30 minutes we got cold so decided to go inside. Now mind you, everyone but us was wearing these buttons that I kept hearing about on the radio so when we were walking in to the lodge, I stopped and asked one of the security guards (read Bikers who were serving as security) what the buttons were all about because this was my first year here. Apparently, you are required to buy a button to even get in to the parking lot. Well...no one stopped us/asked to see our buttons. He asked us if we had them and we said no and he said "interesting, good for you!" And let us through! Yep. Sometimes it pays to be a woman!!

We had a fantastic time but realized we are too old to start at 3:30 because I was home asleep by 11:00. Ha! So I decided that next year, I am going to set up one of those little huts/tents and pace myself. And have a fire. Definitely a must!!

So I just have to get through this week and then it's a three day weekend and then it will be just a few more days and it will be time to go!!

HAPPY SUNDAY!!!

Poor NINERS

I really thought they could pull off the win. But I still live them!! And of course there were still-bitter Packers fans at work that decided to give me shit about the game. And I quote (with smug look on her face), "Who won the game Mary Kay?" Now...we all know that it's probably not a good idea to get in a verbal sparring match with me about any of my teams cuz ya ain't gonna like what you get back. "Not the Packers". Yeah I made my point. And of course there was no retort from her.

But my "healthy food" Super Bowl party was quite the soirée. Just a few folks but boy did we have a good time. There were attempts to do The Worm, The Moonwalk, tackling, screaming at the TV, sword fighting, tiara wearing and just all around general merriment. And all while eating healthy food. See...who says you can't eat healthy and have fun??
